Dr. Joseph Montalto, PharmD

Dr. Montalto earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia. His pharmacy career began in 2005 as a pharmacy technician at Boyd's Pharmacy in Florence, NJ, where he later completed his community pharmacy internship before becoming a licensed pharmacist. He went on to serve as Pharmacy Manager and Pharmacist in Charge at Boyd's Pharmacy in Bordentown, NJ, where he oversees day-to-day pharmacy operations, medication purchasing across multiple locations, and the pharmacy's MTM and vaccination programs.

Dr. Montalto joined CareFirst Specialty Pharmacy in March 2024, initially in a per diem role before transitioning to a full-time pharmacist. He handles prescription intake and clarification, verifies and dispenses prescriptions, and confirms that compounded medications are appropriate for each patient. He has also worked per diem with ShopRite and Zallie Family Markets pharmacies throughout South Jersey, filling prescriptions, counseling patients, and administering vaccinations.

He holds a Cannabis Specialty Pharmacist Certificate (2025) and a Medisca Non-Sterile Compounding Certificate, and maintains current Adult CPR/AED and First Aid certification through the American Red Cross. Earlier in his career, Dr. Montalto led the MTM program and served as a preceptor for APPE and IPPE pharmacy students at Boyd's Pharmacy, and worked as a medical writer preparing infusion system reference materials for clinical training.
